Abstract

This study examines the status and problems of the Kutanran community, a marginalized community in the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan. The Kutanran have historically been marginalized in the state's social and political structure. Hence, this study aims to explore the nature of their marginalization and the kinds of issues they face. To achieve this goal, the study employs a qualitative research approach by interviewing members of the Kutanran community. Findings suggest that the Kutanran face various problems related to education, health, employment, and political representation. Further, the community is also subject to structural discrimination and exclusion from mainstream society, which limits their access to resources and opportunities. The study concludes that both the state and society are responsible for their marginalization and some policy interventions can improve the status of the Kutanran community.
